Thumbs up Gran Turismo 3

I know this is kind of OT, but I will mention the Ruf cars in it, to make it Porsche related.

Anyways, I just purchased a Playstation 2, with Gran Turismo 3. THis game rocks! I haven't earned enough money yet to purchase one of the Ruf cars. But any of you racing game fans, should check it out.

In like flynn...how many porsches are represented? I loved need for speed porsche unleashed, but that's because I enjoyed seeing how those cars handled. In the end, once I bought a 78 935 "Moby ****" I went through the rest of the game (through the 80s and 90s) and creamed every computer simulation! I set all the track records in a 78 turbo...and discovered Mody **** just plain rocked.

Kurt, do you ever play online? I'm also a big fan of NFS5 as well and play online often. My nick online is Zeke1.

Hey, GT3 is definitely entertaining. Although the physics of the game are unrealistic and arcade-style, the lack of car damage and ability to save in the middle of a tournament definitely keep me coming back for more. Too bad Porsche is so underrepresented in the game, and Ferrari is a complete no-show.

Their are three different Ruf cars in GT3. They have the 3400s which is the Boxster, thats the one I have which is putting out over 1000hp! The also have two other ones, can't remember the name since I haven't played for weeks do to school and work, but they were based on the 996 and one that looks like the CTR.

There is the Ruf RGT (996) which can be boosted to 1099bhp. There's a 993 CTR which can reach around 800bhp also. I'm not sure about the Boxster/3400S, but I heard it's pretty good too.

If you crank the gear ratios out you can get the RGT to reach over 420kmh/255mph!

NFS Porsche Unleashed and GT1,2 & 3 are the only driving games I play. Oh, plus GT by Electrionic Art for PC (where I learn Laguna Seca before I went) GT3 has excellent graphics and I think the physics is pretty realistic. Also, I can try different cars, not just Porsches. What I like most are the dirt tracks where I can 4 wheel drift and countersteer.

Thumbs up

I have to agree. GT3 is by far the greatest game ever made. I owned a PS1 (bought for my girlfriends birthday ) and the only games I owned for it were GT1 and GT2. I was waiting to buy a PS2 until GT3 game out. Sony finally caught on and created a PS2/GT3 box set for $250. Best $250 I ever spent. Now when the weather is crappy or its late at night I bust out the PS2.

Have you driven the Formula 1 car yet. It's amazing. I've finished all the races except for the Rally and Enduro races.

I don't usually play video games but GT is no regular game. It's a must have. Check it. http://guides.ign.com/guides/13846/prize_cars.html

Cheers.

Hmmm...I don't have GT3 yet, but the reviews have all said it's got one of the most realistic physics models of any consumer driving sim ever. I know GT2 did.

Are you playin' in 'arcade' mode?

Cheers,
Chris C.

Gotta play in simulation mode which is more realistic and allow you to set your car up. Too bad there's no Porsche or Ruf race car.
