SC Flag Mirror Removal
The passenger door paint on my SC has never matched since I bought it in 2009 but with the rest of the car's "patina" it never motivated me to get it repainted. But the time has come and the paint shop says I can save some money by removing the flag mirror and door handle.
After researching the flag mirror removal for over an hour I am in need of help / clarification. Most of the threads I found deal with Carrera's and I am assuming they are the same assembly as SC's. This is what I have figured out so far: 1.) Gently pop the mirror glass from the flag assembly. 2.) Remove 3 or 4 screws and move the motorized plate assembly that the mirror glass was attached to. 3.) I should now see the connector for the wires / pins. 4.) Once these connector is released I should be able to back the wiring out and then remove base of the mirror from the car. Releasing the connector seems to be the toughest issue. Has anyone found the actual tool for this task? A Delphi Packard Weatherpack Terminal Release Tool was recommended but I am not sure if it is to release the connector or extract pins in the connector. Any and all thoughts on this are much appreciated.

How about just unscrewing the visible nut on the inside of the mount...that releases the whole deal. I can't remember if I had to remove the inner door panel to unhook the wires or not.

See post #10. Your link does not work for me at least.
I thought side mirror removal was easy Yes, remove the pins with this tool and pull the wires through. However, I did this and I did not have a special tool - perhaps I crafted something. This does not mean I did it correctly though. Completely disassemble your mirror for painting.
