Another "where does this hose go"?
Replacing my right rear shock and found this hose disconnected behind the airbox. The other end runs into the fender well right above the oil tank and goes who knows where. Looks like this would connect quite easily to the small port seen on the back of the airbox.
Is this correct and what is this hose for? http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1380986565.jpg |
clips on to that nipple that you see on the airbox It vents the fumes into the intake

Upon further inspection it appears to connect to a cylindrical container in the rear passenger wheel well on the door side. What's that thingy do?

Nevermind.... per PET catalog, it looks like the charcoal canister. Will reattach to the airbox if I ever get the shock off.

Yes - charcoal canister - Bruce's comment referred to the raw gas vapors that start from the driver's front fender expansion tank and end up in the rear fender canister and are burned via the subject hose into intake.
SC's had the canister inside the engine compartment and I believe even older 911's had them in the front trunk. |
