door lights do not work???
Having trouble with the door lights in my 87 coupe.
My radio, clock and luggage light, and glove box light work fine. I have however no power to either side courtesy lights above the doors, pulled the one on the passenger side just to make sure it is not a bad bulb, no such luck. I have no power coming to the lights....they do not work in door or constant setting. The problem is on the supply side to the light not the ground... The fuse is o.k. as the whole circuit is getting power. It has to be a connection somewhere else. Where under the dash does the harness for the interior (dome lights) plug in. I can't trace it back from the roof or the fuse block.... I appreciate any ideas..

I have two pieces of data. A couple of bentley diagrams and a thread related to an 88.
See post 8 for factory fuse diagram for 1988. luggage compartment light/Inside lights/clock wiring issue Here is Bentley for 86-87. ![]() ![]() The "T-" terminal off the anti theft box runs the brown/white wire to the door switches and the lights for both 87 and 88. The 88 is a separate diagram but is the same regarding B/W wire. Seems like the B/W wire should be hot so you may want to check that at the door switches for hot to see if you can isolate the break at the door switch. When the door opens a ground is made completing a circuit. However, the diagram does not detail the actual light so I can't tell how the light circuit is completed. Perhaps it's evident to an electrical guy but I don't get it.

yes B/w wire should be hot at all times, i pulled both lights over both doors, neither one is hot, so not the door switches, they just provide the second ground... I don't have power coming to both of the lights and I can't figure out where it is supposed to come from.... Clock, radio and glovebox light work...it's got to be a loose connection under the dash somewhere.... The lights worked before, not an ongoing issue.

It comes from the anti theft box terminal T-. Find it and check it for juice.

Fair enough. I can't help with specific details, I am sorry.

I don't have a factory anti-theft system on the car.... I don't think I have the anti-theft terminal. I have the bentley manual, but I can't find a wiring diagram for interior lights, that shows the circuit for Radio, luggage light and interior dome lights???
Depending on the switch position, the lights get their ground either from a ground on the roof next to each light or they go through the ground on the door switches. I just dont have power coming to the lights.... I replaced my dash not too long ago and I wonder if I may have pulled something loose under the dash, was trying to avoid pulling the blower motor again, it was not much fun, but that may have to be my next step when I find more time, I just wonder where the connectors are for the dome lights... I am pretty sure I don't have the theft module, it should be right next to the wiper relay, and I had removed that to fix my wiper not parking issue...

Now there is a seatbelt control unit on the 87. Maybe that is used if there is not an anti theft system.
terminal 86. ![]()
