Scraping Sound

I have a 1985 Targa and it has developed a scraping sound coming from the right rear. I thought it was rear brakes but after replacing them today the sound it still there. The faster I go the closer the scrape sounds get so I know it is in the left rear wheel somewhere. Any thoughts? Would a CV joint make this sound? I assumed a bad CV joint would make a clicking sound not scraping. The next thing I thought was the rear drums for the emergency brake. Any help would be appreciated. Joe

If you replaced the rear brake pads but not the parking brake shoes they could be causing the noise.

Did you try turning the wheel/tire combo while up on jackstands? Can you hear the noise if you do?

The more i think about it I would say the rear shoes. When I got the car the emergency brake was not working. I adjusted it and all was well. A month later this sound appears. How difficult are the shoes to replace?

Try what Wayne suggested and lift the car, turn the wheel and see if you can hear the scraping sound.
If you can, it most likely is your parking brake shoes that's making the noise.

Replacing them is not difficult at all. It was the first job I did when I purchased my car. Removing the old stuff is always the toughest part. Putting it all back together was quick.

When I engage my parking brake to the fullest setting I can sometimes hear a scraping noise for a bit once moving. I am going to replace the brake shoes over the winter.
