911 garage find
Found a 1981 911SC coupe in a garage. The owner has died, no keys, no title. Hasn't ran since 2002 , best we can tell. Exhaust is totally rusted, and I cannot tell if the engine is stuck or not. Interior is good except the usual driver bolster, the dash is mint, has tail and sunroof. Fuchs are in good shape and color matched to paint. there is some minor rust and cannot see any body damage(dents). Glass is all real good. By the Vin the car was built for Germany, so I assume it is a grey market car. It has H4 headlights and all sekrut glass. What would be a fair price to offer. I want a good deal but want to be fair to these people, they are friends. Thank you all.

$5K. That is what I paid for my '78 abandoned in an office building garage by its owner.

If you post some pictures and give us the general location of the car (country and county), it would be helpful. Include photos of the areas at the bottom of the windshield and rear window, in the trunk (with carpet removed) and under the carpet in the interior.

I over paid due to family friend ownership. I do not regret it, but I would have been more aggressive with a stranger for sure. It's only worth what you are willing to pay. How bad you want it? |

Put a wrench on the crank and see if it rotates, can pull the plugs to make it easier, pretty sure it's 19mm.

Any history you can find, is a big help. Any maintenance records? Was the car driven in the snow or just a fair weather driver? Any evidence of racing? Any title?
