stub axels

Anybody know the compatibility for the various stub axels? Specifically, are ones from a 73 steel banana good for 74 aluminum one?

Thanks!
BK

BK911,
They will fit but there is a 3-5mm difference in the bearing surfaces between the two. The 74 banana arm has a wider surface than is machined on the stub axles. This will result in the stub axle appearing to be to short. Having said that, I am using my 72 axles with the 74- banana arm. The problem I had was that the cotter pin hole no longer protruded far enough for me to install one. I ended up removing the thick washer between the rotor and the castle nut on the axle. This gave me enough clearance to torque it down and install the cotter pin. My mechanic suggested this as an acceptable solution.

Regards,
Rick

Thanks Rick, that's what I was hoping to hear!
