Oil Pressure Sender - what do I/should I have?
... this is for a '73 guage (pretty sure orig.) to 140 psi or ~ 9.5 bar? I have a '76 Euro 3.0 ltr and the oil pressure reading has hovered around 100+ since the conversion. I 'think' the OP sendor belongs to the 3.0.
I've read several posts about this and wanted to confirm before I order a different sender. I'm thinking this is a 5 bar unit and s/b a 10 bar. Attached is a photo, but there's no marking on the ~24mm nut to say what it is. On the top, it only says VDO, made in Germany. Do you think I have the 5 bar unit? If so, what threads do you think I have? thanks, ![]() |

One way to check:
- Remove sender from block - Connect an ohmmeter between the base and the contact tab on top. - At zero pressure, it should be ~10 ohms - Apply ~75 psi air pressure to the base of the sender - If a 5 bar unit, this should read 180 ohms. If a 10 bar unit, it should read ~95 ohms. Let us know what you get. It may be simply that your 10 bar unit is not functioning correctly. (Mine isn't - it has ~70 ohms at zero pressure, which creates a high gauge reading.) |

Remove the sender, one of the 6 sides on the base will be stamped with the 0-10 or 0-5
Your engine requires a 0 to 10 atm. The SC was the beginning of the 0-5 atm units. Bruce |
