Red face wet weber carb body

Hi,

2 night ago, when coming back from karting with some local P-guys, i noticed that my carb on the 4-5-6 bank was wet with a bit of fuel.

1-2-3 side is bone dry.

I noticed this once i got back home and after running my usual routine on checking if everything is ok in the engine compartment (I do this once in a while).

seems to be coming between from the paper gasket between the top and bottow part of the carb but not sure.

Gas isn't dripping anywhere, it's just that the body of the carb is wet in some areas, on the side where the banjo fittings are.

also, I took the watershield off and notice that the bottom part of the watershieds, just over the 5&6 air corrector area, had something that looked like a bit of fuel came out of that area.

Now we broke the laws a couple of times on the way back home, a I recall that we took right hand highway interchanger at high speeds.

Could some gas made it's way out of the air corrector during a fast turn?

Floats have been set to spec, but i'll check them again tonight.
I'll retorque the top cover, needle valves caps, banjo fittings and the accel pump housing.

Didn't drive the car since i noticed this and stayed around the car for a long while just to make sure that nothing would happen.

any ideas on what is wrong?

Hay,M-A!

Do you have gaskets between the carb top and watershield bottom?

An unfortunate side effect of using this old technology is that the float bowls are vented to the atmosphere. Fuel can get to slopping around in the bowls and past the vent tubes when you're turnin' and burnin'. They are swedged in place and have the tendency to loosen with age.....kinda' like my hair. My tubes are MIA.

It's no big thing (IMO) as long as:

The main jets don't starve.
The spillage is contained in the air cleaner area......thus the gasket Q.

Proper setting fo the float levels is critical to minimize this problem.

There be my WAG.

I have them gaskets between the watershield base and the top of the carbs. Even fabricated gaskets to go between the bottom of the watershield to the velocity stacks. Gotta love gaskets!
