Anyone have an 80s non-turbo ignition distributor?

Preferably disassembled so that you can take a measurement. It has to be a non-Turbo unit.

I'm really looking for dimensions for the distributor drive gear on a 84 to 89, but if you have yours on the bench, I'm looking for

• ID of the hole that slips over the shaft
• the overall height (gear and flange)
• OD of the gear section
• OD of the flange section
• number of gear teeth

I can remove the gear but I need to know what you are intending to do before I go to that effort. Not that I won't help a brother out - just applying common sense.

No, don't bother removing the gear, but if you can use the ID jaws of your digital caliper, a rough ID at the bottom of the gear will do.

The bore at the gear end is 0.482" but that is fighting a chamfer which leaves little of the real bore to grab onto. So you got rough. Best I can do without busting it down.

It appears there may be a step bore in the gear unit as the .482 number I gave you is a little larger than the shaft itself. I can see around the shaft about 1/4" down. Eyeballing the shaft with the calipers I would say shaft is 0.460".

Since another member asked about a 964 Distributor Pinion, here are some measurements of a distributor pinion for a 993 (same dual distributor as the 964).

Pinion ID: 0.474" (12.04 mm)

OD of the gear section: 1.018" (25.86 mm)

OD of the flange section : 0.667" (16.94 mm)

Number of gear teeth: 12

Height of gear section: 0.436" (11.08 mm)

Overall height of gear: ~0.880" (22.35 mm) - hard to measure in place.

Another parameter needed is the drive gear pin location.

All but the OAL match Bob's numbers.
