CASIS or Up Shift Indicator

Hello Everyone.
I know there are threads on this, but I thought I'd create a new thread for any Newbies out there.

My car is an 1984 Carrera and it has the up shift indicater or CASIS (Computer Assisted Shift Indicator System).

This light has been annoying me for 7 years now and I have finally decided to do something about it. After searching this board I found out how to disable it. It's so simple, simply disconnect the Black wire on the connector at the rear of the tach. I removed the recepticle and taped it up... Bingo the light is gone.

I did have to remove the steering wheel and the plastic covers that surround the steering column to remove the tach.

This was also a perfect time to install my newly purchased Leland steering bushing. (another easy job).

Thanks to one who figured out it was the black wire many threads ago.

Could you access the black wire from an adjacent gauge?

You could possibly get to it from the speedo location.

I had a voltmeter installed in the casis location by north hol speedo. Cost a bit more than removing the black wire but I now have useful info in that space.
