How to repair studs on tail light housing
Edit: Tried to test fit these and came to the shocking realization that these are for the front turn signals and running lights, not the tail light housings.
![]() Quick and easy fix to save the front turn signal and running light housings when the studs rust out or break. The problem, broken stud: ![]() Step one: Use a Dremel to grind away the plastic on the inside of the housing that covers the head of the stud. ![]() Step two: Tap the remains of the stud out. I had to repair a couple studs and one came out easily the other, not so much. Hint: Grinding on the end of the broken stud creates enough heat to soften the plastic around the stud and ease removal. ![]() ![]() Step three: Drop in a zinc plated M5-.8 x 20mm bolt. (you may have to clean up the area a bit to get the bolt to seat.) ![]() Step four: Top with JB Weld ![]() Done! ![]()

I suppose I would fill it with JB Weld and after it cures, shape and drill a new hole.
