Where to try helmet in Houston?
I am looking to start getting into DEs and autocross. Who in Houston has a good selection?
PS: I intend to buy there too, i just wanted to emphasize selection and being able to try several since it's my first. Thanks |

Can't help find a shop in Houston, but make sure you don't get a motorcycle helmet. Get one designed for cars. The info below is from the Snell Website (Snell Foundation - home).
"What are the differences between the SA, M and K standards? The SA standard was designed for competitive auto racing while the M standard was for motorcycling and other motorsports. The K standard was released to accommodate helmets used in karting. There are three major differences between them: 1.The SA standard requires flammability test while the M and K standards do not. 2.The SA and K standards allow for a narrower visual field than the M standard (Some SA and K certified helmets may not be street legal). 3.The SA and K standards include a rollbar multi-impact test while the M standard does not."

helmets to try / select
This is the main place that I would direct you:
Buy Aftermarket High Performance Car Parts & Accessories Online Otherwise, you might call Motorsports Ranch (MSRH) in Angleton. They may sell helmets from their place, not sure. Texas World Speedway in College Station probably carries a bunch and there's a racing vendor that usually comes to the track for the weekend when the PCA is having a DE which, happens to be this weekend. If you call TWS I think they would fill you in, in detail. Good folks. Good luck! cd |

i'm gonna try Smiley's in the woodlands. I called them and they said they have over 20 to try on and if they don't have a particular size, it can be ordered.
