Oil question

Recently acquired a 95 911 and looks like P.O. used 5-40 Liqui-moly (full syn). Is this a good choice or would 15-40 swepco, which I used in my '86 911, be a better choice?. Just curious. Perhaps hard to answer this.

Please don't make me read the oil thread.

Actually I would have but couldn't locate it. Thanks

The reason I asked is mostly that I don't know much about liquiMoly, except that it's very difficult to get here, but swepco is easy to get here, so was hoping swepco would be a good choice. Maybe I should stick to a full syn oil, though and swepco isn't. In any case, thanks guys

With a title like "Oil Question", you ask for it, so read the entire thread Ultimate Motor Oil Thread or Why we hate CJ4/SM oils (all 1962 posts) and give us the "Cliff Notes" version

Should have went with "Liqui-Molly" question

Liquimoly 5w-40 full synthetic is an excellent oil and one of the few with the Porsche A40 rating. I run this exclusively in all my Audi's. Datasheet link:

http://www.liqui-moly.de/liquimoly/mediendb.nsf/gfx2/1306%20Synthoil%20High%20Tech%20SAE%205W-40_EN.pdf/$file/1306%20Synthoil%20High%20Tech%20SAE%205W-40_EN.pdf

I get great all-year-round protection in the PNW (which isn't saying much). I haven't run this in my 911 yet, but may do so when the break-in with dino oil is complete.

Locally to PDX, I find the best prices at NAPA Auto Parts of all places.

I've since read some good things about the LiquiMoly products and will be using that I guess. Better suited for the hydraulic lifters also, .

Thanks guys for all your input. Wont bring up oil questions again. Not a popular topic,

Au contraire, it's a very popular subject in that it invites much discussion. However, a lot of that discussion ends up being opinions, not facts, being flung around.

In the end, if you use a name brand oil that meets the requirements stated in the owner's manual, you should be ok.
