How do I access the wires behind the fog light/defogger switch?

:confused:Has anyone ever tried to get access to the wires behind the fog light or defogger switches? At first I thought it would be through removal of the stereo, since those switches sit above the stereo. However, there is hard housing surrounding it. Same issue under the dash. Then I looked through the trunk, but it is solid with the exception of small opening at driver's side section by the gauges. The only place I somewhat see the wiring is by peeking through the clock hole, but I cannot reach through there. I am out of ideas! Help! Btw, I am working on a 1984 911.

Someone suggested removing the air blower and plenum. I founds these pics at the Porsche Archives site, and was wondering where the wires would be accessible after removing these parts? It still looks pretty busy with no clear area for access. Is it the area marked with a letter B?

You are on the right track. Once you remove the cover and a hose or two you will see which way to go. -J

Thanks, I will give it a shot tomorrow and see how far I can go.

Once the cover was off I was just able to reach in there to get to the lighter socket. Pulling the center air duct may help...

I think I found an easier alternative through the AC vents in conjunction with the clock opening. It was odd that this did not show up in a forrum search, but showed up in a Google search!

As I said, pulling the center air duct will help. You may need to undo it from the back if it doesn't move enough once the dash vent piece is off.
