Ignition Help Revisited
Trying to figure out what is going on here. I have two cars both with 3.0 SC motors stock ignition systems. First I swapped the coil from the running car into the non running car. Non dice. Then I swap in the CDI and it fire up no problem at all. So, I thought I had a bad CDI. I Sent the CDI to Pelican for a rebuild / repair and they call me and say its fine and charge $20 for the inspection and guarantee the CDI will be good for a year. Put the inspected CDI and coil from the formally non running car into the donor car. Donor now wont start. Figure I must have made a mistake and my weak memory played tricks on me and I had swapped the CDI first so I need a new coil. New coil in still no spark no start. I'll swap back in the CDI from the running car later on today, but is there a way to check these things at home? What should I say to the folks at Pelican Refund me for the coil I did not need and fix the CDI assuming the swap works which I suspect it will

When I run into a problem like this...I make a paper chart and tag (sticker) each part so they don't get mixed up.
Logic says...if you find a combination of CDI and coil that works one one engine....try that package on the other engine. If it works...you have a base line for experimentation. Gets easy from there. Also...are you sure both coils are CDI type coils? It's easy to mix up parts if they all look the same. Bob
