In the end, I spent more money than I set out to spend, but it was all worth it. When you drive the car with the new motor in it, you will understand. The reward of one's own handywork is priceless. We have other cars so we can take our time and learn as we go.
Give a shout if you need help. Souk ..oh yeah oh yeah, yous in 27230

Excellent.
So what you need to do now is, host an "Engine Install Clinic" Those sort of things went well up here in the NW. We had Supermans "Engine Drop Clinic " and Tyson Schmit's "SSI Clinic " These things are great!

I'd love to host an engine drop clinic. I need to work on it anyways; however, F2P is in Cali. That is not to say I wouldn't host one. So who's interested. I have parts coming this weekend, and I still have other work I would like to do, with the motor out!
With a few guys to help and learn, we should be able to drop the motor in less than an hour, with some prep work on my part. F2P, once you have done this yourself, pulling a motor will be a snap, and all you friends will respect you for it and even bring offerings to you.

Souk, I'd be there to help you, you're just a little far away. I'd install the engine myself, just not equipped. will take it back to andial who are awsum! I'm psyched though, I bought the ECU and the harness today. that's been my biggest stress. Frigen smog nazi's.

F2P, A $100 3-Ton jack (Sears..and good height), $35 for a pair of large jack stands, a metric set of tools and some other tools you may call your friends
. The rest is sweat and some profanities. So what does Andial charge and what do they do that you can do? I don't question their quality, but fear of doing the job yourself may cost more than the screw ups along the way, if you were to do it yourself. Time, Pelican and Rennlist will help you avoid some of the potential problems. But then, it took me all winter and spring to get my project right. What is your time worth to you? You make the decision and be happy with it. After what you went through you may need a fast fix in a drive of your car. |

Can't say I'm disappointed in the ebay failure. But then they didn't know what a sweet deal you had. Serves the skeptics right. Now on to better things. Stick to your original plan and have Andial or someone else hang the motor. Unless you are going to make a habit of installing 911 motors, the $135 mentioned would put you half way there. And that didn't include the adaptor that keeps the motor from slipping off the jack.
I would however, put the CIS back on and ready the thing so that it's a slam dunk for the installation. Send me an email if you need some help getting things back in order. |

F2P - glad you stuck with it...
The benefits of even having the 2.7 engine in your P-car and driveable, far outweigh not having a P-car at all. Why? Because if in the least, the thing grows on you. In my experiences, I go through withdrawals, literal mood-altering withdrawals, if I haven't driven mine for a few days. It sounds as if you're going through some withdrawals yourself.
Nonetheless, you're in a good situation -- I mean it. You could unload that 2.7 once you do the 3.0 swap, and have a good chunk of change left over, unless Andial really sticks it to you. I'm unclear toward the previous posts on this thread: was it said that Andial is going to do the swap? If so, how much will they charge? I really think (and that is if you have the time and correct tools) that Souk is correct. Having some buddies give you a hand with this is probably the best way to go. I've done this with my mechanic on several issues, and have learned a lot more than I otherwise would have if I was drinking a soda in the waiting lounge... Whatever the case, once that SC motor is installed, you'll kick yourself hard for all the right reasons - that you once thought of getting rid of your car. Good move. You have a lot of folks rooting for you.

I wished I lived closer, I'd give you a hand. I owe you a big debt for posting the thread on the oil return tubes. My tubes now have the external clips. Glad to see your keeping the car. Good luck with the transplant and thanks!
