17" Fuchs wheels?

What is the best way to measure wheel size (while they are installed )
Just measure rim to rim across the center line?
How about width just stick the scale thru the spoke and eyeball?
Mine appear to be 17"X 9" on the rear and 17"X 8" on the front?
Are the they really Fuchs?

These are the correct places to measure from.

So if you are measuring the greatest width and diameter, you need to subtract 1" from both.

So you're probably looking at 16x 7 & 8's

Also, if they are installed, i'd assume they have tires on them... which will tell you the diameter.

Clayo ,he says his wheels are 17" diameter , you say they are 16's. I measured my 16"s and they measure 16. I'm confused .

Clay are you discounting the full diameter in favor of the actual bead contact diameter?

Drone,

How about a picture. All 17" Fuchs are replicas.

I'd bet you have 16"s. Do the wheels have tires on them?

He should, he makes them himself... No?

OTTO FUCHS KG: Wheel Shop

** 17" Fuchs wheels will be available from beginning 2013

If they are available at those prices, the would get my vote over any replicas.

Yes, the bead diameter is the measurement used when describing a wheel diameter.

Also, the size should be stamped on the inside of the wheel if you can pull one off.

The Otto Fuchs site says the 17's are only available for 964, 964 Turbo, 986, 987, 993, 993 Turbo, 996.

Please let me know if I am wrong as I too would be interested in a set.

From their site

The 17“ und 18“ Fuchs wheels will also be available for the Porsche 964, 993, 996, 986 and with modifications on the G-Model as well:

I guess without modification means that maybe you need an adapter to correct the modern offset or they have the 17" for earlier cars too...

Sorry OP for the slight hijack.

Could you stick a little observation mirror between the petals to look at the stamping with removing the wheel? Granted, taking off a wheel is easy enough but it a thought.

I was going to say look at the tires.

FWIW that is a common size tire for 16x6 and 16x7 fuchs that came on most 911s from 78-89.

I'd go for 245 on the rear and 225 in the front, if possible.
