I have a very fresh 2.6 race motor. Less than 1000 miles.
It has been sitting for quite some time. 12-16 months. I started it today and it was VERY smokey at start-up. Then it cleared up quickly to only slightly smokey while revving from just one bank. I let the motor run for about 30 minutes to cycle the thermostats, come up to temp and get oil through the front cooler. The smoke is gone. Does oil get past the rings a bit after sitting? KT

Dry sump engines will flood with oil from the oil tank after sitting (wet-sumping). Yes, oil will get past the rings and exhaust guides..given some time.
Normal. |

I ran it a again for 60 seconds.
Was smokey then mostly cleared up. The motor ( carbed ) sounds furious and wonderful. Smooth idle with very snappy fast revving response! I can't wait to get it back on the race track. KT
