Hello,
I have replaced my front targa seal on my ´70 911 with a new one and obviously have a bad fitting targa roof. I have seen several posting regarding shaving the seal to get it to fit on the old car/roof but it is still a bit unclear to me what to cut precisely on the corners. I would appreciate it if someone could post a pic of a shaven seal (on or of the car). ------------------ Peter '70 911S Targa [This message has been edited by Peterfrans (edited 09-01-2001).] |

Peter,
Search for the thread where there was a discussion about the new front seals being a different design (profile) than the originals. Evidently the mating with the roof suffers at the front corners. Joe |

I've heard a number of people complain about the front seal being too high on the early 911's. In a previous thread I stated that I purchased my front seal from Vertex and it fits just fine. The top, which I just recovered yesterday, sits just where it is supposed to. I suggest you send the seal you purchased back (if you haven't buggered it up) and here is the Vertex part number: POR91156509047. Cost me $89.00, but it might have been on sale.
