Colour change on 88 Carrera C.E

Just picked up a 1988 Carrera Commemorative Edition Targa that needs a paint job. It's the original blue/gray exterior and interior. Not my first choice in colour but bought the car at a good price. Am I nuts to consider a colour change? Is there any genuine collect-ability to this model? Should I just grow to like it?

Cheers

If it were me and I wanted to buy an advertised commemorative edition 911 I would absolutely want it in original paint colors interior and exterior. Paint it another color and it is just another 911. I think you lose value when you do this to a limited edition. But it is your car and you can do as you wish.

Thanks

Unless it's in fantastic shape otherwise, it's probably not going to hold it's value in relation to other CEs, so I doubt you'd lose much more with a color change than you would changing the color of a regular car. I think you're crazy for not loving the Diamond Blue paint though

+1, and the CE premium isn't that much either imo...a "nice" G50 will command more than an average CE any day....they're just not THAT rare. I concur wholeheartedly about the Diamond Blue Metallic....I "wanted" that color after seeing a CE in person that another buyer already had dibs on. Wouldn't have mattered if it was a CE or not "to me", I wanted the color. I've also made plenty of performance mods on my car which was a 46K mile garage queen when I purchased her many years ago. Do with her what you wish and don't worry about diminishing the value...a repaint of any color does that anyways.

ps: Though mine may not be "stock", she's still a "head turner", and I'd have no problem getting a premium ('cause she's a great, well maintained G50) were I to decide to sell...but I ain't gonna do that

pps: ARE YOU CRAZY? Diamond Blue rules
