What type of headlights are these?
Hey guys, i'm sure this is a dumb question but I found these headlights and rings in a box in my garage and while I used to be into 911 stuff about 10 years ago when I bout them, I don't know what they are anymore. I want to sell them but I don't want to mislead anyone. I looked on ebay and thought they matched the "H4 euro style" headlights but again, I want to make sure I don't tell someone they are something that they're not. Any help is appreciated! Oh, also if you could tell me the going rate for these things it would help too

I would need a close shot of the lenses. I think they are H-4s designed to be a drop in substitute for the DOT Sealed beams.

They are not H4's... I think they are referred to as "sugar scoop" style with the standard sealed beam headlights.

They appear to be Cibié drop-in H4s in sugar scoop mounts.
Painted sugar scoops are correct for US cars from '78-86. Chrome sugar scoops were used on US cars from '68-77. I don't think they are worth a lot, but if I'm wrong let me know, as I have a pair in Chiffon white packed away in the garage. Mine have Hella H4 drop-ins in them.

Hmmm. Is your '78 SC one of the early SCs with silver window frames and trim? I could see Porsche still using chrome in that case. But I thought all the cars with black trim got painted sugar scoops.

Thanks for the input guys, I don't mind if they aren't worth much, I just need to get them sold to someone who can actually use them.

The Hella drop in units Are about $50-60 new at your FLAPS.
They are H-4 units that have the pattern but not physical appearance of the more expensive Euro units. Either one is a vast improvement over DOT sealed beams. |

H4 is a bulb type, and there are scores of headlights that take this bulb. I think people get confused because Porsche people are almost always referring to the Euro H4 assembly when they say "H4," but before those were popular, people were installing 7-inch round H4 lenses in their factory light assemblies. - Matt

If you look at the backs of the lights, there is a removable seal over the electrical connectors. This is typical of a H-4 light. For sealed beams, there is no seal, the connectors are in the rear glass of the bulb.
