MSD 6201 works - Tach no work & spark plug gap

I installed a 6201 MSD on my 1969 911T and it works fine.

My tach is not operation and I read that is a common problem. I have read that connecting my black/purple tach wire to the distributor (MSD white wire) instead of the MSD gray tach wire will work. Thoughts? There is a diode provided with the install parts. Can this be used with the MSD gray tach wire to get my tach to work?

I set my spark plug gap to 1.45mm This is towards the high end of the gap recommendation. My drive seemed a bit sluggish but close to what I expected. Should I narrow the gap a bit? Suggestions?

Thanks,
Steve
