Need trottle adjustment help.
My accelerator pedal is not opening my throttle all the way. When I hold the pedal all the way down I still have about an inch of throttle left on the linkage. I searched some old threads about throttle linkage adjustment but did find any that explained HOW to adjust it. There are so many different places to adjust and I know if you adjust one it affects the others. I just don’t know where I should begin here. Thanks!

IMO, the only place you want to adjust it, is at the transmission, under the car. It's not hard to do, just hard to explain. If you intend to keep the car, now would be a good time in invest in a Bentley manual.

Bentley is on the list and it just moved way up. Before I read your reply I got it done. I ended up adjusting a 1/8" out of the pedal rod and about 1/4" out of the trottle rod that goes through the firewall. It took all the play out and everything seems to be working right. No binding, bending, or slack anywhere. I just had to adjust the idle switch a little when I was done. Much better now, thanks.

Considering that the throttle lionkage is probably suffering from 20+ years of neglect, I have serious doubts that it is just a matter of <b>'ADJUSTMENT' ...
There are several bushings (#15, #18, and a couple that aren't shown in the engine compartment) ... at least six, IIRC, in the following diagram, that need to be replaced!!! </b> http://www.pelicanparts.com/911/911_...974-75/7-1.JPG |
Ryan, I admit I am a bit of a rough b@stard, but I just cut a hole in the plywood board to the gas pedal didn't bottom out so soon. 50 extra horses immediately :)
