Engine Serial Number Decoder
I have a 2000 Porsche 911 Millennium edition. My 3.4l engine failed. I purchased an engine from Motor Meisters in California that is supposed to be a 3.6L engine. The engine they shipped to me configures differently and now they're not responding to my calls. I'm trying to find out the type of engine I was sold. Can you kindly assist in decoding the serial numbers? The digitized numbers are m96/0268x03306. The block stamp numbers are 996.104.139.1R 3.4lhttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1383072704.jpg

The photo that shows the part number 996.104.139.1R close also shows the displacement for the part but it is hard to read.
Here is a photo of a head for a 3.4L 996 for comparison. 996 3.4L Heads and Intake Manifold - Rennlist Discussion Forums |

What do you mean by displacement? Can you tell if it has VARIO CAM+ or nothttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1383080822.jpg

displacement is the engine size, you indicate that motorscheister sold you a 3.6 liter engine, yet the case stamp indicates it's from/for a 3.4 liter engine.
search the pelican parts forum for the word "motormeister" and you'll be in for some interesting reading. Good Luck!!!! |
Go to rennlist and search 996engine decoder. I think the x designates that it is a 99 production engine. That would be a 3.4 compatible engine to your needs. MM is a bad name that has screwed many unwary buyers.
just checked rennlist. Your number should be M96/0266X03306 not 68X |
Thanks
