Smoke coming out of ac vents 1987 911

I drove my 65K mi 911 Cab today and with my AC on, I had smoke coming out of the center vent. It definitely had an acrid, burning wire/rubber scent. I opened the front hood and all seemed ok. I opened the engine compartment, and it too smelled fine. I felt everything around the engine and nothing looked or felt funky.

Freaked me out. I have an extinguisher aboard but what or where the heck would I deploy it? Somehow dumping it down my center AC vent didn't sound like an effective effort.

This happened a couple of years ago but it was temporary and it has not reoccurred until today. This time it was really rolling out.

Check the wiring under the smuggler's box and the front condensor motor

As Dr Gerry recommends, ad a fuse at the condensor if your year does not have one. I think 87 does.
