Certificate of Authenticity Question
Just today, I received a Certificate of Authenticity from Porsche NA for my 73 T. I was told by the previous owner that my FRONT "S" spoiler was a factory option and original to my car. The COA states that my car came with an optional REAR spoiler. When I called Porsche NA about his discrepancy, they said that only the REAR spoiler was optional, not the FRONT spoiler. My FRONT "S" spoiler must be an "add on" since the FRONT spoiler was not offered as an option in 1973.
My question is, who's "on crack", me, or Porsche NA? COA's...........Fancy wrapping, but no gift inside! I hate pissing money away. P.Smitty |
Don't feel bad. The COA's are notorious for missing/wrong information.
My car came with a full leather interior and leather sport seats. The COA mentioned "comfort" seats in leather. Sadly the miss a lot of info. There is another thread on this posted in the last few days, take a look at it. |
PCNA got it backwards. There was no rear spoiler optional on a 1973 911T, only the front S spoiler.

I had a factory S front spoiler on my 73.5T. The COA information is a crap shoot, at best. |

Call them and tell them to fix it. COAs are a waste of money except for a selling point to a newbie to confirm engine originality.

:)
If I remember correctly, the S front spoiler came on all 73 models imported into the US. The optional rear spoiler they refer to is the "duck tail". It came on the RS but near the end of MY 73 production was optional on the 911. Of course, I may not remember this correctly. Len :) |
No, there are plenty of 1973 US-spec 911T's running around without the front spoiler. I can't say I have ever seen a factory ducktail fitted to anything other than an RS that was documented by the original owner as ordered as an option from the factory. It was easy enough to buy one through the parts department of any dealership, and even fit it to the car prior to delivery, but that's different. I'm not saying it wasn't theoretically possible, if you knew the right guy, I just don't think it was a regular option on the order books.
