Side mirror
Dear all,
Someone recently smashed my passenger side mirror. I got a new one put in (pricey, of course), and I'm happy. Now, however, I notice that the old one on driver's side is shaking a little, while the other (new) one is completely firm. Doesn't matter while parking, but at cruising speeds over 100mph (yep, it happens in Sweden) it becomes pretty important. Any idea of how to stiffen this one up? Regards, mons 911 Targa '85 |

Hey Monster......
There was another recent thread on this, but basically, you gotta remove the mirror base from the car and tighten up the hollow bolt (that the wiring goes thru if you have electric mirrors). This will tighten up the mirror arm on the base, but will still allow the mirror to pivot. cheers -Brad 80SC |

be VERY careful not to let the screw and nut (which attach the mirror base to the door) fall through the opening as you're removing the mounting....
this happened to me and 2 hours later i found the pieces inside the door well way down below. (plus another 2 hours to put the door panel back on.) no fun at all. SHOULD this happen to you, do not dismantle the entire door panel as i did. All you have to do -- is remove the speaker in the door panel -- and reach your hand in -- this will give you access to the inside of the door. Maurice 1980 SC Coupe |
