Flojo,
Your post reminds me of when I was a kid. I played outside all the time. I remember coming in dirty and my jeans torn up and how exasperated my mom was. As many times as I got scrapes, bumps and bruises from climbing trees, building forts in the woods, wiping out my bike, etc I felt like I was COMPELLED to do it. :) I have a hard time taking my car to a shop because I either want to learn or I feel like they won't take their time to do it the way I would. And then there are the times when you go to do one little thing and the next thing you know the entire inside of the car is tagged and bagged in the middle of the garage floor and you're standing in the middle of a mess thinking to yourself "What kind of idiot am I???" It is always an adventure! |
Where I get in trouble is going into the garage for just a check or an adjustment and then several hours later coming out covered in dirt, grime and/or grease. Usually in a new shirt not designated for the garage.

It's Alive ...........
Complete Front suspension rebuild - check Just needs alignment. Incredible how much better it drives with the ER bushings, new shock inserts, turbo tie rods, ball joints, etc, etc. Airbox replaced - check Wasn't all that bad a job. New airbox, intake gaskets and sleeves, injector sleeves, injector O-rings, airbox gaskets and O-rings, pop-off valve, distributor cap, rotor, spark plugs, etc. Issues remaining: banjo on driver side "S" caliper leaks. Was very careful snugging down the bolt but it kept leaking. PMB send another set of copper rings and being even more careful it is still leaking ?? The one "WTF" moment: After getting everything back together I fired it up and took it for a ride.. it ran just like it did with the blown airbox - WTF ?? backfiring, missing, etc... back to the workshop to look for air leaks and could find nothing amiss - until I walked over to the workbench and saw the big fat O-ring that seals the pop-off valve. Installed it and all is well... and yes, I need to paint the latch panel, install the rubber lpp piece and put the Porsche labels back on.. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1391221816.jpg and my fuel injector test setup: volumes are all the same and all injectors spraying a nice cone of fuel: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1391221884.jpg |
I look forward to seeing more. This post along with so many others is inspiring and makes me wish so badly that I had a good work space / garage to work in. My car is garaged at my neighbors, it's VERY confined, and it's not mine sooo...... I'm limited to small jobs on sunny days, but those are fun too.
