Permadoom question

I've seen alot of negative comments here on the permatune cd units. Some calling them permadooms.

Also seen posts where they sometimes work only intermittantly as well.

My question: Is it possible for these 3 pin units to fire but to have a weak spark to the spark plugs?

all of the above.

Wouldn't that be your coil instead?

I cut the losses and changed both. Coil and Box. They were 37 y/o I guess….

Ok

Next question. On the permatune what should be the ohms readings testing it off the car. I think I've seen someone posting here on checking permatunes with a multi-meter but I'm not sure.

Blue, black, or silver box? Potted or non-potted?

Some Permas are better than others IMO.

Jeff. It's a blue unit. Have to take the cover off to see if it's potted or not. Which one gives more trouble?

Have you tried Permatune's customer support? From what I've read they do a good job. No personal experience.
