Finally scr3wed on Ebay
Well, I guess it had to happen sooner or later, I just got screwed by a seller on ebay. I purchased a set of OEM heat exchangers advertised as *no dents or defects* I guess I'll let the pics speak for themselves. I guess the damage could have happened during shipping. How could someone just throw stuff into a box and ship it! Not even a dang newspaper packed with it! ARRRRRRGHHH. Sorry, had to vent. The ebay seller is rennen33 and here is the auction link;
Should have spent a little more and purchased the real SSI's. Thanks Dad, for breeding *cheap* into me ![]() I hope this dood had at least one honest bone in his body and will refund my bucks, but, somehow I doubt it.... -Brad 80SC |

Looks like that box was driven over a few curbs and hit a few potholes!
I seriously doubt that kind of damage occurred from rattling around loose in a box with the other heat exchanger while being shipped. Appears to be a case of a dishonest seller. Give him a chance to make it right (return of money and shipping costs); if not then negative feedback time and complaint to Ebay. Sorry to read of your misfortune. Jim

Well...the seller changed his ID recently (that's the sunglasses icon). Can't imagine why The damage in your pic looks way out of line with shipping damage - is that torn metal?; Especially with his statement "These are stock heat exchangers in great shape. No dents or defects..."I'd contact the seller immediately and request a refund, and ship the product back - take the loss on shipping. If you have torn metal with sharp edges - and no matching holes in the box, if the seller does not refund your money consider small claims court. This is outrageous. After many years of great eBay success, my past two sets of auctions had, for the first time, non-paying winners. I guess with a couple of bazillion members, a few bad apples turns out to be a statistically significant number. Jeez. Good Luck!

That is whacked!!!
I notice that the pictures didn't show the bottoms in the original auction. I don't think that damage occured in shipping either. Good luck, and when you rate him, say something like "Beware Pelicanheads" in your comments...IF he doesn't come through with a refund.

The seller had opted for full replacement value insurance, and persued the claim herself. Apparently her hope was to get $1000, rather than $400 selling price, *IF* her claim was paid. This is a scam from where I stand . . .I can just hope she didn't get a dime. Take lots of pictures of the box and such, and hope the seller wants to deal with the "claim."

I remember this auction very well! Saw the item on EBay and sent the seller a question as to why there appeared to be holes in it. He sent back a 2 word response..."No Holes". I just deleted his response a couple days ago, wish I had kept it for you.
Sorry it happened to you. I had a similar experience, but in my case the seller offered to work it out. I make it a point in not dealing with buyers or sellers with the sunglasses. Another transaction had problems with a seller with the sunglasses icon...after that I swore off those guys...just not worth it. That's the problem with EBay...a few bad apples!

If I expand the picture to a larger size, it appears that the left one has damage but that really does you any good. But let me tell you what I did once and you can use the info if you would like.
I had paid for an EBAY item and the person sent me an empty package. Well the next email I sent to him had a CC: to FRAUD@ebay.com Complaints@paypal.com and my favorite, on the bottom cc: John Hurley Attorney at law. None of these are real but it sure must have scared them because the next email I got was OOOO sorry my kid just found it and it was.... I am pretty sure that if someone did this on purpose that they need the money alot. I hope it works out for you, good luck and keep us posted.

Yes, I too was recently scamed by a seller on ebay. It has been 3 months with no resolution just excuses and singular gestures.
If I had the time I would persue mail fraud charges because I used the US postal service to pay and deliver funds. I dont believe those dents occured in shipping. Rather they were already there. So Sorry.................. |

Wow.. Sorry to hear that Bob.. you actually out bid me by $5.00
and won.. I'm looking at your pics and comparring them to what was actually posteed on ebay.. to me they don't look like the same ones. the ones you received look to have a bit more deep surface rust that has been wire brushed.. The ones on ebay have little evidence of this. Man.. don't know what else to say.. I guess it just wasn't my turn yet. Jorge (Targa Dude)

That is without question one of the most blatant cases of fraud/theft I have witnessed from ebay. Where in L.A. is this MF? I'd like to investigate him with a baseball bat. Maybe bring a couple of pipe-swinging brothers along with some pliers and a blowtorch and get medieval on his ass. ARRRRGH! God I hate thieves!!

I was scamed by a a-1parts in penn, i would have got my money back from ebay fraud but i waited to long, all the crap you gotta do seems to take for ever, do yourself a favor and get it all done tomorrow then you will have a case, also they did get kicked off ebay on my behalf only to probably open a new account with a new name, so do the leg work and do remind them that you are gonna do it and it is fraud, and its mail fraud and can lead to a fbi investigation and monday morning you plan to turn them into the post office general, stick it to them like flyes on stuff, Kevin

Brad,
This sucks! In looking at those that damage wasn't done in shipping unless the boxes they came in were torn to pieces. You would have seen that at the time of delivery. Is there a return address or shipping address on the boxes from the shipment? How about a tracking number by carrier it was shipped by? If it went by mail I believe I would pursue the mail fraud aspect as a start, this may be your best bet. Second I would contact Ebay and alert them as they can sensor or block this person from future sales. You didn't mention how you paid. If by credit card and you're within 50 miles of where you purchased you can contact them and they will suspend your payment until resolved. If by check and the check hasn't cleared put a stop payment although I don't know anyone that accepts checks on ebay. Dan O |

I think we have a few attorneys on this board who may like writing the type of letter this guy needs to get.
My ex bought a "new in-the-box" cd changer for her BMW E36 on eBay. It was so stolen that, when it arrived, it still had the cd's in it from the car it was lifted from. She got firm with the guy and he blamed it all on his wife's shipping it while he was out of town, blah, blah. But she got her money back. I got burned buying an old Fender Twin amp. I even talked on the phone with the guy before I bought it. When it arrived, it was about as loud as a clock radio, when it should easily be able to knock the fillings from your teeth. I filed and won a fraud claim with eBay. But I didn't get half of what it cost me to get the amp right again.

I also don't deal with sunglasses. Those are definitely holes, and it looks like painted-over rust. No way that's shipping damage--you would have to hit the box with a pickaxe to do that.

Wow, I thought I had it bad when I ordered a set of these from (some other unnamed "Performance" parts place) and they arrived with 1/8" thick paint and numerous small dents...
Hope they were insured! That's the best recourse, protecting you even from unscrupulous eBay sellers. -Boyo

Ok, here's an update. I was able to get the sellers contact info from Ebay. I was surprised the phone number was actually valid! I sent email and left voice mail for this dood. He sent me an email back indicating that he was just selling these for a friend, who packed the box and provided the description for the Ebay ad. He indicated that he will refund my money when he returns on Monday and that he is very sorry. We'll see. I still do not have a warm fuzzy feeling about this transaction
Supposidly the shipment was insured as the rate he quoted me "included insurance".Targa Dude, sorry you didn't win ![]() Thanks for the kind words everyone, I'll let ya'll know how it turns out. I do have his email, phone# and home address if necessary -Brad |

Brad,
Sounds good but I wouldn't stop there. I'd try to get as much info as I could on this guy. If you have a return name and address on the box I'd keep it. I'd do a reverse search on his phone number on the internet and try to confirm everything I could about this guy. I wouldn't trust anything he told me until I say it in person. Why does he have to wait until Monday? If it's for a friend why does he have the money? I might be wrong but I think he's stalling you. I'd report him to ebay and keep the pressure on. Dan O |

Anyone had any issues with PAP sales on Ebay? I just bought some parts from them and then noticed they have 10 negatives. I thought after 5 negatives, Ebay suspends or kicks you off. Now I'm worried

They look like they were super rusted and deeply pitted. The sheet metal looks like it had gotten paper thin before it "opened up"
They basically look like they have seen a lot of salty winter driving. I have a set just as bad as those and they were from Salt damage. Plus I am sure oil leaking on them does not help. I had a heck of a time getting a set of tires and wheels out of a guy, he claimed he had shipped them but they had gone to the wrong address. Than he said he got them back but could not afford to ship them. There was one excuse after another. But... I had used a Visa check to buy them. When I contacted the Visa company about not receiving them , they contacted the individual and before I knew it the wheels and tires were on the way. Don
