Brakes Squeal When Cold
The brakes on my '82 SC have recently started to squeal when they are cold. After driving for a few minutes, with stops, the squeal goes away. If I park for a few minutes and start driving again, however, the squeal returns...of course until I stop a few times. It sounds like it may be coming more from the fronts...although it is a little hard to know for certain. Any ideas? Could it be wear indicators on the pads? I thought the wear indicator noise was more of a grinding sound. Whatever it is, it's rather annoying. I had the pads checked about 2000 miles ago and they were all 75% or better although I did do one DE session since that 2000 miles.

The wear indicators do make a grinding sound. Nasty really.
Get some of the stop squeel goo at a local parts store. This stuff goes between the pad and the piston and it really works. Btw, the reason race pads squeek is they don't have a stop-squeal coating from the factory. It is assumed they will be operated at a temp the coating can't handle, so they leave it off. Street pads have a stop squeal coating on them from the manufacturer.
