Pulling an MFI Engine out of Storage
 

Ive searched this forum for as much info as I can get, but nothing seems to be on point. I recently purchase a 70 911 with an MFI engine that hasnt run in 2 years, though ran when it was parked. Its been outside unfortunately, and the linkage seems stuck for now-we will try delicately to get it freed up. The engine does turn by hand. We are going to drain the fuel tank and lines, but Ive only had webers before- not MFI. Do I need to pull it all apart and have everything rebuilt, or is it possible it might still work? We are going to pull the plugs and spray the cylinders with oil or Marvel, let it sit, change the oil and hand crank it, and then crank it without the coil wire to get it loosened up before trying to start it. Is this screwed up, or a good format? Any other tips?

Check to see where the binding is occurring by removing the ball joint linkages. Chances are the butterflies are seized in the throttle bodies. I stored an MFI engine for 10 years and had no issue. I did however oil the bores through the plugs and intakes and gave it a revolution every 3 months or so with a spanner on the crankshaft nut. Your start up process is similar to what I did, fresh oil, cranked it with no plugs or CDI or fuel pump until I had oil pressure, installed plugs and reconnected fuel pump and CDI and vroom.
