Source for Rear Deck?
I'm looking for a new rear deck for my SC. Anyone know who sells them? I couldn't find it on Pelican. In the past, I've seen rear deck conversions that offers a bit great depth to accomodate 6x9 speakers. Thanks.

Hi Jeff, you might wanna give these guys a looksy

Jeff:
You could always hop North to Campbell Nelson and check their wrecking yard. Failing that, call Denny at Aker's or John at John Walker's Workshop for leads. Then it's off to Parts Heaven, etc. on a national scale. I recovered my rear deck using Auto International-supplied fabrics. It is a later deep style that came with my '78. John |
How About Those Raised Rear Decks?
Has anyone had experience with the raised rear decks that are meant to accomodate 6x9 speakers? My rear deck needs recovering anyway and I'm toying with the idea of trying something new.
By the way, you know those Bose Wave desktop radio/CDs, that sell for $500. I've always been impressed at how full a sound they get from a small box. I eventually realized that the box contains a 37" long waveguide, folded up to fit. Picture is here http://www.bose.com/home_audio/wave_systems/radio_cd/ if you click on the "Acoustic waveguide speaker technology" link. So I was thinking about whether a folded waveguide wouldn't fit nicely in a car. Say, in a 911 rear deck. I know space is tight there, but certainly no tighter than in a desktop radio cabinet. Any reactions? Sound practical? |
I ordered a "raised" rear deck from Performance Products last May but it was back ordered for months and I finally got disgusted and cancelled order a few days ago.
would love to hear feedback from anyone that's installed one or knows where to get one. |
Jeff:
Put an ad in the Parts section of this board and do the same over at the Rennlist. That should start things off. They can be had, really not much of a problem if you start poking around. John |
I appreciate all the feedback. Thanks a lot.
