How many people were successful doing the #8 Bearing Oil Leak Fix

The gold standard has been to split the case.
I have this leak going on with my vehicle and have been doing alot of reading of people who have done the fix using a sealant and the alloy ring. Some have just used a sealant and some have used the kit sold by Amon with mixed results.
This fix has been available for some years now and I am wondering who has been successful and what did you do to be successful over others who have not been so fortunate.

A very good friend had several top shops in our areas try a couple of 'fixes', but none were successful. Splitting the case and doing it properly was the final solution, and he now has one of the few 911s I know that stays completely dry (and it's a 72 with a mag case).

There's a current thread about the #8 bearing on the board right now.

Tom Amon's Collar kit.......

Search for Tom Amon's collar kit for repairing #8 bearing without splitting the case. I was skeptical before using one and a very good alternative for fixing the oil leak if you don't want to split the crank case.

I've read all the postings, that is why I am wondering how has the fix held up for all the people that used this technique, after all these years.

If you used this fix, how long ago did you do it and has it held up - no drips?
Some people have not had good success, even with Amon's help. If this fix worked for you, was there something you did or used that was different than what came in the kit?
