77 Targa - SC flares or not

We are restoring a 1977 Targa (have the POA) with matching numbers. The car has been stripped to bare metal (glass out), metal finished, primed twice and blocked. It has SC flares. The correct engine is being rebuilt. The original paint is Platinum Metalic/W1, the interior is Beige/Tan leatherette. The only options are oil cooler front and Koni shocks. When I got it, it came with an anniversary "signed" steering wheel.

Questions are:
Return to narrow rear fenders in back
Stay with original colors
Have an SC core that could be rebuilt and installed????

In California, the car is still required to have smog equipment: air pump, thermal reactors - if it was one year earlier - it would not have to pass smog.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

What is your goal? Retain value? Hotrod?

It sounds to me like you are interested in value. If this is the case, weld on the original quarters, install the original motor, paint original color, and otherwise bring it back to as stock as possible.

not an easy chore

if you are repainting the car then put on standard flares, but it is not an easy thing to do as we are doing it on a 72 that had sc flares.

Could always wrap it instead of painting - actually much less expensive and some say it wears and looks better.

I like the wide body Targa FWIW...

I say take it back to original, if it's a numbers matching car.
