Hi,
First post. Been scouring this site since I found it... Great info on here. I'm the proud owner of a 90 C2 Cab. Had it now for about 2 years. Haven't had many problems with it (lucky I guess, from what I've been reading about 964's )I do have a question about the tiptronic. I was just rummaging through the parts section and reading about transmission mounts. It said that worn out mounts can cause the transmission to shift while excellerating. I've noticed that when I'm accelerating fairly fast it feels like the gears slip... sorta like how it feels when you're on a roller coaster and the car catches the gear when you are going up for the first drop kinda a double slip (best I can do to describe it)... Also seems kinda clunky on the down shift tooMy mechanic says that's normal... is it? |

Rando, What you are feeling is most likely the torque converter locking up partially through second gear. This is normal. Roy 91 C2 Cab.

Thanks Roy
. The mechanic I use is and always been very forthright and I really wasn't doubting him but second/third etc.. opinions always put me at ease.Is there routine/normal maintenance that needs to be performed on tiptronics? My car has 114,000 miles on it. Also OT: Been reading threads on those drasted heater flapper boxes... Been having that SAME problem that's been posted on this board numerous times. I thought that the scorching HOT air coming from the vents was normal he he he... silly me...
