HP Junkies - Clutch Options

Well, my clutch is starting to slip in my new G50. I am using a Sachs aluminum pressure plate and sporting disc. I do not dump the clutch at 5k or anything like that but I thought it would be stronger and last a little longer. The first clutch I had when I had the 915 was a puck clutch and I do not want one of those again for the street.

Any sugestions?

Hi,

A KEP (Kennedy Engineering) lightweight Aluminium Pressure Plate with a STOCK G50 disc will quite easily handle up to 600lb/ft of torque.

That's on my to-do list when I decide to go to the next stage.

Thanks Wyd, I should have thought of KEP. Some of my off road buddies swear by them. I'll check them out further.

Juan, have you driven a P-car with a puck disc? If you haven't don't be surprised when you absolutely hate driving it on the street!

Wide, have you personally talked with anyone using the CF? I haven't myself but I've heard as much bad things as good things.

cheers to all.

Natchamp, The KEP system was recommended to me by Todd Knighton of Protomotive. That's what they use in their high power 3.2 Carrera turbosystems from 485HP+ and it is suppose to be very street friendly also.

Also, the G50/50 disc (used in the '89 930 5 spd) is the same as the Carrera disc, the difference resides in the pressure plates for the higher clamping force. That's why the KEP Pressure Plate can handle up to 600lb/ft of torque using the stock G50 disc, due to the higher clamping load/force.

Hope that helps.
