Back-up light switch

Hi Guys.

On my 915 transmission the backup light stays on. I am planning to pull it out and have a look at it but a couple of questions first:

What size wrench fits it as I need to buy a large one in advance - my set only goes upto 22mm

What is the story about the pin or activating pin for switch that is listed as a Pelican parts?

The story with the "pin" is that I would take a wild guess that somebody changed the switch and put it in backwards. I assume the switch is good and there is no wiring problems. That girl does not like it inserted backwards!!Ron

Do you have to open the tranny to get to the switch? Mine was working intermittently and now it is out completely.
Just wondering how hard it is to replace the switch.

Jester911, the switch is at the back of the tranny on te outside, so I'll just undo it with the correct sized wrench ??? And RonninLB, I wouldn't be supprised. The job done on the gearbox previously is a joke it's so badly done. It would be nice if the pin is just put in the wrond way around.

when you remove the switch , be prepared to have gear oil come splashing down.
at least that's what happened to me in my 83sc

if you remove the switch, you will have to replenish your gear oil, this requires undoing the drain plug as well as the filler plug. refill volume in approx. 4 qts.
read the manual.

try doing it with both rear wheels up on ramps and see what happens.

if the car is level, maybe not

I've got some new Swepco 201 and it's a good excuse to do an oil change http://www.pelicanparts.com/ultimate/smile.gif

Anyone know what wrench size ?
