Porsche rethinks NYSE stock listing
I just read an article in Spiegel, the German Time magazine, in which they write that Porsche is rethinking plans to be listed on the NYSE. Apparently, Wiedeking, the CEO, doesn't want to swear by Porsche's financial results nor release quarterly numbers.
The same article says that Wiedeking opened the new Cayenne factory where they expect to build 25,000 per year. I put the url for the article below. If any native German speakers want to add anything or correct any mistakes I made, please do so. Spiegel article

"Das ist ein Leuchtturm, den die Menschen in diesen Zeiten brauchen", sagte Bundeskanzler Gerhard Schröder (SPD), der symbolisch die letzte Schraube am ersten Cayenne anzog.
Can't leave this one out: "This is a beacon, which people in these times need." said Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder, who symbolically tightened the last screw on the first Cayenne. As if there weren't already enough reasons to not buy a Cayenne. I wouldn't want one Schroeder had worked on! BTW, I'm pretty sure were plenty of Cayennes made before Schroeder did this. Oh well, at least I'll have another sight to see when I visit my friends near Leipzig next time.

Well, I don't know what their reluctance is! In the current financing environment, with Internet stocks soaring, the cost of capital is at an all-time low, and Porsche should list on the big board to benefit from the runup in stock price they would doubtless experience. And their use of proceeds could be to develop a super-luxury sport-utility vehicle, which everyone would buy with the proceeds from sale of their high-flying stocks! The absence of other manufacturers in the Luxury SUV segment should mean that Porsche will have very little competition!
Oh, hey guys, 1999 called, and they want their strategy back.

"Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder(, who) symbolically tightened the last screw on the first Cayenne"
![]() Does that mean there's hundreds of other Cayennes waiting to be screwed by some one else?
