Need a cheap Blaupunkt?

I just replaced the radio in my car with a new Blaupunkt. During my research I found that Blaupunkt's service center sells radios very cheap. Much of the stuff they sell is new, and some is refurbished with warranty. The good thing is that they sell some of the older stuff that actually looks like it belongs in a 911 dash. Most of the new car stereos look more like video games than car stereos. Most of the prices were under $100 and shipping is $8. Hard to beat, if you ask me! Check it out.

Click me to go to Blaupunkt

An example: IDC-A09 is Blaupunkt's in/under dash CD changer. Crutchfield has it for $229.95. Direct from Blaupunk it's $160.

Cool beans!
I am stereoless in my SC at the moment.
I gave my old CD player to my ex girlfriend... don't ask. Anyway, as a temporary thing, I took my roommates factory Honda CD player and put it in the big HOLE in the dash just to fill the space.
Before you kill me, yes, I took spirits and rubbed off the "HONDA" script. it actually looks good.... but it's broke.

I agree, most new head units look too..."plastic" and look out of place on a 911 dash.

I'll check 'em out!

"Orders shipping outside these areas are subject to additional handling charges, higher shipping rates, applicable customs, duties and taxes, all of which are the responsibility of the customer. All international orders must be prepaid in full with U.S. funds, with a cashier's check drawn on a U.S. bank or by wire transfer. Midwest Electronics only accepts credit cards that are issued by a U.S. bank, and have billing addresses in the U.S., for orders shipping to U.S. addresses"

..not much good to us Canadians

Maybe some of you nice folk would help us northerners out in a pinch?

Thanks for the link!

Are the wiring harnesses on Blaupunkts compatible? I.E., can I expect to stuff one of these into my dash and have it mate easily into the existing harness?

I purchased a Blau Nevada in-dash CD unit for my p-car last summer from midwest-usa. Excellent value: great unit.

Inari77S: they did send the DIN harness that plugs into the back of the radio/CD unit, but I had to do some splicing of the wires to match everything up. Unless you get a really old unit, you'll have to do the same, since they changed the setup since your car was new.

Inari77S,

It's not going to just plug in. The back of my original Blaupunkt had seperate wires for switched positive (ie ignition), permanent positive, ground, and antennae trigger. The factory Monterey radio was only a two channel so there were two speaker outputs that went to the console fader that split the signal into front and rear.

The most time consuming part of the install was finding the individual speaker wires. Both rear speaker wires are under the passenger side floor board and the door speakers run under the dash. Once you find everything the install really isn't that complicated.

The new radio comes with a plug that goes into the back of the radio. Just follow the wiring diagram and matching up the wires (after disconnecting the battery, of course).

I soldered the connections and used black electrical tape to wrap everything since there's a lot of that from the factory. I'm not the most (or least) mechanically inclined person on this board, but all told the install probably took 2.5 hours.

I bought a Blaupunkt Toronto from midwest-usa last year.

Great unit, brand new, no problems.

It won't directly wire up to any car (unless you can find a harness somewhere, like maybe Crutchfield).

Midwest-USA is great. Brand new Blaupunkt AM/FM/CD receivers for $70-$90 is practically a giveaway.

There is an internet site called Stealitback.com I have recently seen Blaupunkt radios (good used) sell for as low as 50.00 .. This web site collects stored property from local police depts and auctions it off at very low prices. This web site is still very new and not a lot of people have caught on to it..So check it out ...This info if for my Pelican friends only

Funny, there's not as much of the sub $100 stuff as when I first posted this. Parasitic Pelican's perhaps?

My wife still loves the $80 unit I put in our beater Protege.

Great information! Looking to upgrade the Montery in my SC. Any DIY resources out there for Porsche stereo upgrades?
Also some good prices on Ebay but I will check out the site.
