A couple windshield question
Getting the old windshiled out of my '88 yesterday was a pain. The seal was glued in, including some of the RH trim. Most of the sealant was in the corners. On the other hand, I was very happy to find no rust.
1) What's the board's opinion on sealant when installing the new windshield? Did the factory use it, or is this a kludge from a prior windscreen replacement? 2) What do I do about the antenna lead on the windscreen? Does the new one come with one, or do I have to reuse the old one? ![]()

I had my windshield and gasket replaced recently. Sigla glass out of a glass warehouse in Columbia,SC. I used a new factory gasket. The window and seal on mine were original and were pitted and leaked like a seive. No sealer on the gasket. The windshield came with the antenna lead, just plug in. It was a thin ribbon instead of a wire that went through the gasket. I was happy to find no rust in the window opening. Good luck. I was suprised how much mine fought coming out and going in. The installers earned the money. I have seen some threads that had a much easier time.
