Here are two links:
http://www.idee.demon.nl/911_27/911_27.htm http://www.fortunecity.com/silverstone/lancia/58/911/911_6.htm It was a 3-liter car that, because of additional weight and other equipment, was no faster than the 2.7 liter Carrera RS. If someone's trying to sell you one, it's very likely a replica, not an original 3.0 RS. ------------------ Jack Olsen My Rennlist page • My Pelican Gallery page • My Porsche Owners Gallery page |

The '74 RSR is indeed a very special Porsche racing car. It is quite rare and all of the known remaining cars are well accounted for. If you give more details of what you need to know we can point you to the correct answer.
To answer the first question it is 3.0 liters. This model is distinguished by special flares that have slots for cooling air, a fixed rear shelf or tray spoiler and centerlocking wheels often in magnesium. |

It's not difficult to get some fiberglass flares and drop a 3 liter engine from an SC into a 74 car. Somebody can make a pretty great car that way, but in your case you'd want to pay an appropriate price for it. 74-77 911s are (sometimes rightly, sometimes wrongly) among the least valued 911s. Rust, small brakes and engine problems related to emissions control equipment can really hobble the cars.
Then again, with a rebuilt or swapped engine, these can be great bargains. ------------------ Jack Olsen My Rennlist page • My Pelican Gallery page • My Porsche Owners Gallery page |

I owned a 1974 3.0RSR for about about 15 years. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.

marc weintraub: is there any kind of way(chassi numbers or) to state if the car is orginal?
The owner talks about a "Hybrid RSR Hybrid 3,2 L" engine, i cant seem to read hybrid in manuals(on the Webb)... What is the value on a changde RSR into some turbo version? he wants 17850:- $$ for the car. I´m beginning to think it´s over priced what do you think? /Tommie ------------------ One Black slow car! |

Tommie,
Maybe I'm missing something, but the '74 3.0 RSR is something very special. 36-45 cars built, 300-330 HP 3.0 liter engine, race only. Figure 200-300K USD for one... I wonder what is the car you're being offered. GeorgeK |

Hi Tommy,
Yes, there is a way to check authenticity. It would be through the VIN and engine number. I had a car that I never registered... a German car with a racing history, as many of the RSR's had. I am going to go through my records (give me a little while, my wife and are have things in boxes)to find all the car numbers. As far as values, I traded mine for a 1997/8 TurboS (I was stupid), but it should have been about 200k at the time. Right now, with the economy what it is, your guess is as good as mine. You sould post the VIN, engine and transmission numbers. Also, note what type of injection the car has. Mine came with two sets... High butterfly MFI and a slide valve setup that I could switch to, but mine came with a bunch of spares... this was just one of them. I will get back to you. The '74 RSR will have a serial number like 911 460 90XX. Take look at the link below. Are you dealing with one of these? My guess is no you are not.
