Backdate front wing extensions?
 

Hi, I've searched and can't find what I'm looking for.

I'm about to backdate my 83sc and wondered if you could buy the lower front wing extensions so I can make a late wing into an early one.

I've heard about people doing it, but can't find the bits anywhere.

In the uk would be handy, but happy to ship from the us.

I wasn't sure what you meant at first, until I realized that what you blokes call "wings", we yanks call "fenders". ;)

Just a note on this. I've seen an number of people use the fiberglass boxes that attach underneath the finders, er wings, and they are decidedly hideous. The fit was terrible even with lots of work. It's a quick job for a race car or similar, but in the end it's probably worth finding early fenders or welding on a steel section. - Matt

Find two useless rusty old useless long nose fenders that happen to have the light boxes in recoverable condition and cut and shut them to your fenders. Keep your eyes peeled to the F/s adds and eBay.

You can buy the actual signal light frame from Porsche - new, not cheap but definitely precise.

Then with a little fettling you can use the trim panel that was between the fat bumper and the fender well to fill in the gap. A bit of welding, a bit of leadwork and voila....perfect. I just did it on my '89 six speed project (I have a thread somewhere on it, but I sort of stopped posting my work since there is so much of this stuff already, its a bit redundant)

Both sides should take a good sheet metal guy less than a day....probably under 4 hours actual work.
