Door Stay Spring
Hello Everyone,
I'm looking for one spring like the one in the picture, for my door stay. I'm also looking for the pins that connect the door stay lever to the body of the car. I have an early '73 911 with the 1.5" stays, so I can't use the door stay kit sold thru Pelican parts. Thanks, Tom

For the spring go to your local well stocked hardware store and look in the spring drawer and match it up. If you like using a Catalog, McMaster-Carr (McMaster-Carr) should be able to fix you up as well.
Looking in the PET (find your year here: Porsche Classic Genuine Parts Catalogue - Classic Genuine Parts & Literature - Porsche Classic - Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG), it shows that the 1973 cars had a M5x12 bolt while those made in 1972 and before had a M6x12 bolt. Both also have a spring washer. The same hardware store should heve these as well.

Tom,
I have been down the spring road. I might have a couple spares from my 72. I was buying spares off ebay to get two good assemblies. I also bought a close match from a spring manufacture I can fix you up with. Let me know Gary |

Gary,
Yes, let me know what you have for springs. I'm also looking for the correct pins that attach the hinge to the car. No big rush. My email is tamolter@msn.com. Thanks, Tom |

I'll put one in my luggage for you, trouble is my flight to Paris is August 2014! (I'm heading in your direction to ride up Mont Ventoux) Those door stop assemblies are rare so I have a few spares now. The springs are ridiculously hard to match up at the hardware store, too long, too short, not strong enough......
