3.2L Carrera MAF
Hi everybody, well it seems that there has been talk about this before but nothing recent, Im in the process of purchasing a 85 ROW carrera but I currently own an 89 944 that I have dropped in a 968 motor. That being said, I was researching MAF conversions for the 3.2 and it seems not alot of topics pop up on searches, and the available "kits" cost upwards of 1000 dollars. reaching over to the 944 side of the house rouge tuning has a MAF kit for the NA 944 .. essentially the same motronic that is used in the 3.2L and they sell for 500 dollars with a plug and play MAF and mapped eeprom chip. any thoughts on the possibility of this working?

There was an interesting thread on this (the motronic) back in 09. Here´s the link.
Motronic 3.1 Conversion from 944 to 911. I looked at a Gekatec MAF system in 2010 but decided that the slightly improved throttle response and the 10hp was not worth the high cost you mention. I could find other ways of improving the care such as lightening it etc etc but I don´t do too many track days so I decided to leave it. |

I think as these cars get older there will be less and less 'new products' available for them, including MAF updates. I did the Autothority 20 years ago, have since retuned the chip and am very happy with it.
Others will disagree, but my butt dyno says let it stay. Maybe you can find a used MAF and chip online or at one of the dismantlers, and then take it to Steve Wong or somebody to get a custom chip for your car. Do you know what MAF rouge uses? My Autothority uses a semi-rare Ford MAF; but I have a spare at least. Chuck.H '89 TurboLookTarga, 365k miles (MAF since around 60k) |

Chuck, know what you mean alot of time i think we get stuck in the past and dont want to change because thats the way we have always done it. But as new tech becomes available we might find something very hard before is now much easier. Ever tried reading an email on an early 2000 cell phone haha, but here is what i got from joshua at rogue
Jarrett, Thanks for your interest! I have taken a look at the 911 DME & software. It is very similar to the 944NA... I am currently finishing up a new MAF kit for the 944S/S2 (16valve cars). After this, I have a couple of other projects to finish. Following that, I will be looking at doing a MAF kit for the 3.2 Carreras. The 911 will require a bit of software work & testing to develop and tune. The MAF hardware is actually done, as it is the same as the 944S/S2. |

3.2L Carrera MAF
Apologies if I'm out of line mentioning this here, but wopdeeze, I have a complete Autothority MAF unit and chip that I no longer need for my 87 Carrera. Let me know if it is something that might be of interest to you.

One word: Lindsey Racing has a unit that is plug-n-play, they have a 3.2 file that they will load for you. It is under $500 and comes with software to tune via USb cable. Their unit will hold up to 10 different files that once loaded you can switch by merely turning a small multi-position switch.
I have one and love it!

well this subject has been discussed many times over........................here. The improvement depends on the existing modifications. Plus the Lindsey unit is a modern real alternative that is truly tunable. A lot of stuff back a few years ago were very primitive
