Throttle linkage lateral play (carbs)

Getting down into the nitty gritty of carb tuning and such, and came to the issue of setting the linkage to being as close to perfect as humanly possible.

Is there a factory specification for how much lateral/side to side play there should be in the cross bar between each carb? My cross bar seems awfully tight between the two pivot studs, and I was concerned it may be causing the linkage to stick when the throttle returns to the idle position.

Or, is it just a matter of it being not too loose, but not too tight?

Thanks in advance,
Ethan

BTW, in case there's any confusion, the red lines in the picture below are the surfaces I'm speaking of

The side plates differ in that one is reinforced with a rib and the other is formed of flat sheet metal. This provides a little compliant to thermal elongation of the cross bar and of the engine itself which would bind the bar if set too tightly between more rigid mounts.

I recommend setting the bar so the 13mm balls just sat and then give a 1/2 turn extra on the stud with double nuts to keep it seated.
