Chrome Wiper Arms and Blades-Need Lesson
I want to put chrome wipers on my project Carrera RST. I note that our host does not offer any. Which years were chrome wiper arms and blades offered? Would any years fit an '86 wiper mechanism?
Any help would be appreciated? Johan |
Never offered, AFAIK.
For good reason. Always fun to have something reflectiing into your eyes... exciting. |
Wuss.....!
Never bothered me, Model A's, early VW's, XK120, Mustang...need I go on. I would just like my two questions answered by somebody who knows. I now note that Stoddard offers chrome for some early 911's which I would interpret to mean that they were indeed offered. Johan |
Black wiper arms became a DOT requirement in 1974, I think. I'm pretty certain that Porsche was well ahead of that, I've seen factory brochures from the early LWB years that already had black arms. If I had to guess, I'd say chrome was no later than '67.

65-67 arm were paint silver but blade were black

if you want early look just paint yours silver

I bought mine from a german site about a year ago and they are stainless steel recreations. The description says that they are the same finish as the original '64-'68 so I assume they were SS. I don't think they were ever chrome because excessive reflection and yet they were still changed to black in 1969, for the same reason. I have yet to try them since I'm still a month away of finishing the car.

Enzo, you could probably tell whether your SS wipers would fit your 930, which has the same wiper shaft as my '86 donor. Did you also pick up the SS retaining nuts? Johan |

I fitted them in my 1971 911 no problem and yes I used SS nuts. I don't think there would be a problem putting them on the 930. MD |
MD,many thanks for the info.
