Rear Seat Replacement RS Style

I posted this on Rennlist, and only got one reply, so I am hoping you guys will give me a better response. And yes I did a search, but I didn't see anybody that had done a project quite like this.

My dad and I are about to redo the interior of my 911. We have been going over different ideas, and have pretty much settled on pulling out the rear seat area, and building a box to fit in there, similer to the RS style. The top luggage area would be covered in carpet with the front face covered in vinyl. We would install speakers in the front face, and have some sort of door to allow storage inside, as well as installing an amp for the speakers inside of the unit. I know that other people have done this, and I have heard that it was even an option (at least something similer was) at some point. Any suggestions you guys have before we start this project? We are thinking it will be fairly straight forward, my dad can build or fix just about anything, and he said that the actual building of the box should be no problem. What should we look out for? Any idea on how to attach it to the body? How does the existing rear seat unit attach to the car? What are we missing and what haven't we thought of? Any input is always welcome. Thank you in advance.

The factory unit had some brackets inside that you reached thru the glove box door and you bolted them into the existing seat belt mounting holes . I can't recal the other mounting points but they were installed very solid .

This was my answer to that same question. The factory luggage deposits were IMHO junk and now they are very expensive even if you can find one.

I used the front bumper box to make a pattern, cut up some 1/4" solid core plywood, added a sub and a pair or rear speakers and a storage box. Used the mounting hardware already there across the back and down low on the front. Put a lip aross the front top to keep stuff from sliding off, covered it with the same light gray carpet in the rest of the car and some leather to match the seats for the trim rail and the storage door.

Very nice Randy!! That is the exact set up I am looking to build for my car. Do you have a way to access inside of the box, or is it all sealed? It looks like you did more then just make cut outs for the speakers, how are they installed? I am not very speaker savey, what kind of speaker set up/install will give me the best sound back there? Im glad to see Pelican came through for me, I think I need to start spending more time over here.
