Targa Top Webbing

Can't seem to find a source with this listed. Pelican has the burlap but the kit doesn't list the webbing and it doesn't appear to be available separately. (All of the sites carrying "kits" appear to have everything but the webbing as well.)

I went over dozens of related threads and the webbing is discussed but not specified.

Anyone with an idea source or suitable substitute?

I have a link to this upholstery material supplier, and they have instructions on how to reskin a Targa top. They list for materials needed 2" webbing. Maybe they can supply it also.

Dan Petchel replaces the webbing. Him and another guy in Colorado (I think) are the best in the country.

Just hear me out. Dan says the webbing is the root cause for many of the top issues. He has a jig that he mounts the tops in to get the metal frame pieces to align with respect to the pins, etc.

He states that a DIY job cannot replicate this alignment procedure.

He will install the webbing and send it back to you. The balance of the job depends on the right glues/patience/ability.

Spring for the sturdier vinyl material. It does not stretch as much when baked in the sun.

Anyhooo....

Just found this on ebay. Webbing sold by Dan Petchel. Surely he has them for older than 964 models.

Also a link where a guy made his own jig.

I've TIG welded together a jig, with integral clamps, to maintain the geometry (in addition to utilizing the alignment pins and latch).

I've taken multiple critical measurements so that I can verify the geometry, once the material is removed and the top is installed in the jig.

It doesn't appear to be a big deal but I can see where it could be difficult (or disastrous) for the mechanically disinclined.

I haven't torn mine down, all the way, so I'm not sure if I'll need the webbing as well.

Great info though.
